"In Silicon Valley there is perhaps no greater mystery than why it has taken anytime-anywhere wireless computing so long to arrive."   John Markoff, The New York Times, January 4, 1999
The attendees broke out into groups to prepare positions on issues related to the above statement, for example: What are the barriers to widespread integration of portable computing devices and wireless communication networks? What can the mobile computing research community do to help bring down these barriers? The workshop reconvened and representatives from each group presented the groups' positions.
