Location, Travel & Accommodations

Hotel reservations:  The Monterey Beach Resort is located directly on the beach, 4 miles north of Monterey, CA.

• The deadline for hotel reservations has been extended to September 17, 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
• To reserve a room by phone, call +1.831.394.3321 (or toll free in the USA, 800.242.8627) and mention that you are with the WMCSA or IEEE.
• You can also fax  this reservation form to +1.831.393.1912.
• Important.  Please reserve rooms using one of the above methods.  Do not reserve rooms through an online service such as Expedia, a travel agent, or the hotel's main web page.  If participants do not make reservations using the above methods, IEEE will not get credit for the reservations, and we will be charged a large amount for the use of the meeting rooms.  We recognize that discounted travel agents may be able to save you a few dollars, but in this case, the "savings" will just be reflected in increased conference registration fees.  Please support our efforts to keep conference costs low by booking using the above methods.

Airports:

• Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY), served by connecting flights by most major airlines, is about 4 miles from the Beach Resort.  Call the Beach Resort to ask about transportation service from MRY airport.
• San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) is about 70 miles northeast of Monterey; driving time is about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
• San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is about 100 miles northeast of Monterey; driving time is about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Driving directions from SFO and SJC.  (Note that "highway 101" mentioned in the directions is accessible from both SFO and SJC.)

Monterey-Salinas AirBus provides inexpensive service to SFO and SJC if you don't have a rental car.

Monterey area tourism and transportation:

Tourism information will be included in your registration packet.  Some brochures and information are available at the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and plenty of additional information is available by doing a Google search.

• Taxi and bus service from the Beach Resort to Monterey are available if you don't have a rental car.   However, if you plan to explore the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Big Sur area, a car is highly recommended.
