Report on HotMobile 2013

(Sharad and Alex)

  • 91 registrations
    54 papers
    20K of sponsorship !

Workshop ran two full days. keynote speaker went very well. sponsorship raising went very well. Sigmobile supported several studentships. Selection process based on Sigmobile involvement, workshop involvement and a range of other factors. Lots of praise for the venue and for keeping the registration costs down.

Thanks to both Alex and Sharad - a job very well done :)

ACTION: Chris to put statistics on to the web site.

Discussion on workshop size

  • General discussion that this year felt a very good size but that we don't want to get too much bigger. We will tell the next GC and PC to target 70 attendees (as usual).

ACTION: Nigel to tell the next GC and PC chair

PC, GC and location for next year

  • Discussion on best location and chairs for next year. General agreement on "west", e.g. west coast or south west. Santa Barbara, Santa Fe, Tucson, Phoenix, Seattle all discussed. Decision to leave it to chairs but require "sand" and west as themes. Probably avoid Santa Barbara as may go there with Elizabeth as a GC at some point in the future.

    PC chair: Stefan Saroiu
    GC chair: Matt Welsh
Place: West US. Somewhere with sand !

SC Changes

  • Nigel apologised for delay in enacting retirement policy agreed last year. Unanimously agreed to ask Alex and Sharad to join the SC,

ACTION: Nigel to invite Alex and Sharad (done)
ACTION: Nigel to retire ex-GCs and PCs with > 2 years service (done)
ACTION: Nigel to ask Chris to update web site when done (done)
